Sweet orange cream cheese mints make 24 mints that can be served as favors at a buffet or party․ Sweet orange cream cheese mints can also be used as after-dinner mints․ I roll and form mints with soft cream cheese dough and let them dry and refrigerate them to firm up․ The inside of the mints tastes and feels cool and orange․

Start with cream cheese at room temperature‚ properly softened․ Mix in the butter and orange extract‚ and carefully introduce the powdered sugar to avoid making the dough sticky and hard to handle․ The dough should be hard and sticky to some degree when handled but roll out smoothly․
Orange food coloring is strong․ I use recommended amounts of food coloring and mix it well into the dough․ Form the dough into balls․ Use a fork or other tool to make patterns on the surface of the dough balls․ Moisten your hands with granulated sugar to help keep them from sticking while you work with the dough balls․ Place coated dough balls on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper‚ leaving plenty of space between them․
Air dry cookie-shaped mints for a few hours and chill mints on a tray in the refrigerator for a short time․ Mints should not be stacked when air drying to avoid sticking; mints need to be quite dry before stacking․ These mints are appropriate for baby showers and weddings․ I also arrange them on dessert trays at home․
