Pumpkin patch strawberries are a simple no-bake fall dessert that works well as a Halloween party treat or activity for children. I coat large strawberries with orange white chocolate and sprinkle them with dark toppings to imitate the stem of a pumpkin. Moisture from the strawberries helps keep the white chocolate coating intact (green tops add most of the pumpkin work).

In step one, I break Oreo cookies, including the filling, into crumbs and place cookie crumbs on a platter. I pulse the crumbs in a food processor to keep them small. Prepare a parchment-lined baking sheet. The orange glaze will harden quickly, and it's important to keep the berries' stems intact for dipping in chocolate while the chocolate is still wet.
I pick up each chocolate mint by the end to keep it clean and let the melted chocolate run off into the bowl before setting it on the prepared baking sheet. The finished mints may have orange coloring that resembles pumpkins if the chocolate runs toward the end of the mint but does not fully coat it. Letting the chocolate run off the mints before setting them on the baking sheet prevents large areas of melted chocolate from cooling on the baking sheet around the mints.
These mini pumpkins are good for fall and Halloween parties and other events. Mini pumpkins are also ideal for daytime events where attendees are invited to decorate. Pumpkins with dark stems are an option, but additional decorations featuring faces and pumpkin spice can help make the pumpkins look more festive. Let decorated pumpkins dry completely before touching them.
What makes this special
- Children can learn to carve pumpkins using berries. Dipping is a simple technique appropriate for a beginner's cooking project.
- No baking lets you make a fall treat without using oven space or room in the oven.
- The fruit and batter add sweetness to a small food item that can be eaten without silverware or a plate.
- A pound of large berries yields 12 little pumpkins for serving on a platter with minimal effort.
- Faces or images related to pumpkin spice can be used as decorations. Many types of sprinkles can be used as decorations, but not mixed into the baked good in the same way.

Place one chocolate sprinkle on top of the coated strawberry for the stem.
- 10
Set the finished strawberry on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- 11
Repeat the dipping and decorating with the remaining strawberries.
